| "Hiking | ||||||||||||||||||||||
"This is the way, walk ye in it…" Isaiah 30:21 Hiking is a popular activity. Everyone is sure to try hiking once in a while. Thin people hike to stay thin; fat people hike to get thin. The sick hike to get well and the well hike to keep well. When people tell me that they are going hiking, I usually say to them, when you decide to travel some distance, make sure you take a blanket, staff, pack, canteen, shoes and knickers. In addition to these accessories, there are two other considerations that will add pleasure to your hike. The first is the company that makes up the party; and the second is the place of destination. The bible recommends a hike to two for the Christian. It tells us to take a daily walk with God. "This is the way, walk ye in it…" Enoch walked with God (Genesis 5:22). God was the joy and support for his life. For three hundreds years he communicated with the Almighty (Genesis 5:22). His fellowship with his Creator was better than life itself. Before Enoch was translated he had this testimony, "…That he pleased God" (Hebrews 11:5). What a powerful testimony. Walking with God is a slow, steady pace. We advance only a step at a time. It is not jumping over the valleys, or from peak to peak, but a steady uphill climb. When we are in a hurry every Christian need to remember that hiking with God means walking with Him slowly through the valleys and up the hills, along paths both rough and smooth, advancing only a step at a time. As we walk with God, let us remember that we are redeemed hikers, for we travel with Jesus, and His destination for us is HEAVEN Be blessed!
