| "Peace" | ||||||||||||||||||||
"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7 In Greek language, the word "peace" means "Harmony." In Hebrew language, it means "Shalom." The Apostle Paul writes about a peace baptized into the Spirit of Jesus Christ and a peace that God promised to give all believers who put their trust in Him. So many of God's people are seeking for peace of mind. But yet, they are looking for it through improper vehicles. Many seek for tranquility by the avenues of drugs and alcohol, and others in the political and social arenas of life. Still more seek for peace in the pleasures of this world by enveloping themselves in the materialistic things of this world. But still a host of individuals are lacking that inward peace for their souls. PEACE IS NOT: Anxiety, for anxiety counts some things more important than God and looks for security from those things, rather than from God himself. Peace is not strife, or a spirit of restlessness that delights itself in causing trouble. Neither is it jealousy, the feeling of hatred that is produce in us when we see some good come to another. PEACE IS: "SHALOM" a word that expresses well being, soundness, prosperity, success, and makes life good and the world safe for goodness. Shalom involves more than just freedom, more than just liberation, it involves the right relationship with God and justice between your fellowman. Shalom is a little more than, "hello, good-by, or never mind." It denotes order, and absence of anxiety, strife, and jealousy. Sometimes it is equivalent to "salvation," reconciliation to God and Heaven. If you are seeking "Shalom" the peace of God which passeth all understanding, you will find it through salvation in Jesus Christ. If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as you personal Savior, then I invite you to take a moment and accept Him as Lord and Savior of your life right now.
