| "To Small" | ||||||||||||||||||||||
"For who hath despised the day of small things..." (Zechariah 4:10) Many times we get the idea that deeds are to small or to ordinary. Yet, some are forerunners of important events. Adam and Eve were driven from the Garden of Eden, because she temped her husband to eat what God forbade (Genesis Chapter 3). David used his sling and a stone to kill Goliath 1 Samuel chapter 17). The widow's mite was worth more than the riches' abundance (Mark12: 42-44). Jesus Christ was arrested and crucified because a traitor gave him a small kiss (Matthew 26:48-50). Yes small deeds, but sadly tragic results. We are so eager for the large, the dramatic, the spectacular that we frequently fail to perform the small deed that may be very important. We see the large gift made by some wealthy person. Oh, that we could do as much as we say. We neglect to lay our small gift offering or deed at the feet of Jesus. Let him magnify it. We see the terrible crime of some one, but pass by our own "little lie" which is an "abomination to the Lord." We hear of a fearful accident and the wreck of some soul, yet we fail to watch carefully the direction in which we are turning. We admire the glorious religious faith and courage of some one far away, while we neglect to pray and listen to the inner voice which say "this is the way walk ye in it" (Isaiah 30:21). The importance of things large or small depends on its relation to the will and teaching of Christ. Let us watch over even those actions which seem insignificant, for they may be the beginning of a habit or practice having large consequences than we now realize. "Little is much if God is in it." Be Blessed! Pastor Thelma Gilbert "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God..." (1 John 4:7) |
