| Reverend Lena Brown is a lifelong member of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion (A.M.E.Z) Church. She has served in many and varied leadership positions on the local, district and annual conference levels of the denomination. Lena is an ordained Elder and has been a member of Martin Temple A.M. E. Zion Church in Chicago, IL since 2000. Rev. Brown is Leader of Leaders, Stephen Ministry Leader, Minister of Maturity and Dean of the Live Development Institute. Lena is also a member of the Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society and Prison Fellowship Ministry. She is an Executive Board member of Connecticut based Pastoral Resources Ministries, Incorporated (PRM) an interdenominational full-gospel outreach resource ministry that offers and administers supportive outreach services to pastors, para-ministry leaders, faith-based organizations and the community at large in various forms from a biblical perspective by utilizing God-given spiritual gifts and talents under the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit. Lena is an Executive Board Member of Connecticut based New Life Academy Inc/Transitional Outreach Ministries. NLATOM ministers to young men at-risk of becoming lost in the penal system and to families whose loved ones are already caught up in that system. She is a member of the National Council of Negro Women, NAACP and Indiana chapter of Colored Women Clubs of America and ARMA International. Lena holds a certificate in Business Management from Hartford Community College; and completed course work at Manchester Community College, Tekiyo Post University and is currently completing degree work at DePaul University in Chicago. She is a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Lena has over 35 years experience in the insurance industry and is currently employed at CNA (an insurance company) in Chicago as Enterprise Records Management Director for the Corporation. She is a certified facilitator and has extensive experience in facilitation, project management and teaching. Lena has successfully used her skills in the corporate and private sectors and in the faith-based community. She specializes in strategic and tactical planning, problem solving, conflict resolution, communication, team-building and, leadership development. She is married to Marvin Wm. Brown, Jr., and is the mother of four daughters (Natalie, Nyki, Angela and Andrea) and two sons (Jeffrey and Richard). She is a grandmother and great-grandmother. Lena loves the Lord, loves His people and her greatest joy is worshipping, praising and serving Him! She is grateful and humbled to be able to serve Him as a servant/leader, preacher and teacher here on earth. Her greatest desire is that all are saved and have a personal relationship with Almighty God. The scripture that comforts, inspires and motivates Lena is Jeremiah 29:11-13 "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you. You will seek me and you will find me when you seek me with all your heart." |
